ENDO 1

ENDO 1 is a 4-hour Joint Advisory Group (JAG) approved course for endoscopy staff wishing to improve their skills in assisting endoscopic procedures.

The course includes a series of interactive teaching sessions. The teaching focuses on the development of endoscopic assisting skills, discussion of clinical cases and reflection of knowledge gained from the JETS Workforce eLearning modules.

Learning objectives:

  • Understanding of the principles and practice of safe, patient centred endoscopy and the equipment used.
  • Acquisition of the skills to assist safe endoscopy.
  • Understanding of the non-technical skills necessary to perform a safe and competent procedure.
  • Highlight the associated background knowledge necessary for competent practice.

ENDO 2

ENDO 2 is a one day, practical skills course that provides the knowledge of safe practice for all nurses and HCA staff working on an endoscopy unit.

This course is face-to-face and delivers knowledge-based education and practical skills training through a flexible, hybrid, multi-modal style.

This course covers 8 sections which compliments the level two eLearning modules and competencies.

This course Includes theory and hands on simulation training with porcine models in a friendly environment

This course provides the necessary training and knowledge behind highly complex procedures in endoscopy including: Variceal banding, Gluing, Endoclip application, EMR, Polypectomy, Snaring, Injection sclerotherapy, Biopsy forceps and Equipment checking tips and tricks.

Learning Objectives:

LO001: List and describe the indications for endoscopy.
LO002: Understand the principles of therapeutic endoscopy.
LO003: Understand the principles of patient preparation for endoscopy.
LO004: Recognise high-risk patient groups and the deterioration of patients, and care plan effectively.
LO005: Recognise patients who are at a higher risk of complications and describe how to minimise those risks.
LO006: Understand the principles of sedation
LO007: Understand the use of accessories and anticipation
LO008: Demonstrate the use of ENTS, team communication and its relationship to patient safety.
LO009: Demonstrate how to effectively escalate issues and maintain patient advocacy.

ENDO 3

ENDO 3 is a full day face-to-face training session.

This course will focus on the management and leaderships aspects of endoscopy and will be taught in a classroom format. The course will include breakout rooms and will be highly interactive.

This one-day face-to-face course will allow participants to explore the theoretical topics studied in their e-Learning, discuss the reflections and assessments used to evidence completion of the competency framework, and network and benchmark best practice with their peers. The day is designed to be interactive and will include breakout rooms.

The course is designed for leaders in endoscopy (likely band 6- and 7-unit leaders) and those aspiring to these positions.
