Send hairs in a dry sterile bottle or fungal collection kit (obtainable from the laboratory).

Nails

Collect clippings or scrapings and send them in a dry sterile bottle or fungal collection kit.

Skin (Ringworm)

Collect scrapings from the edge of the lesion into a fungal collection kit if ointment has been applied, the lesion must be thoroughly cleansed before the specimen is taken. If a Candida infection is suspected try to collect skin scrapings, otherwise send a swab.
