The Macmillan Chemotherapy Nurse Specialist Team aim to develop and promote high standards of evidence based care for chemotherapy service initiatives, locally, regionally and nationally.
We are responsible for providing specialist knowledge, advice, and counselling to staff, patients and their carers and undertake a range of duties to ensure the effective delivery of the chemotherapy service and facilitate a large team of chemotherapy administrating nurses in practice.
Other responsibilities include planning and implementing Trust and National strategy initiatives and providing education and training to multi-disciplinary members of the health care profession and interface primary/secondary care.
The team are instrumental in work being undertaken within the wider Cancer Network to achieve chemotherapy measures, as part of the Cancer Standards Peer Review Programme.
Whilst the Macmillan CNS Team facilitate the wider chemotherapy service, we are also responsible for the development, implementation and management of our own specialist clinics including, oral anti-cancer assessment and review clinics, PICC placing service and Incidental Pulmonary Embolism (IPE) pathway.
